Professional Attorney-Led Probate Administration: Beyond the Paperwork

A licensed California attorney prepares your probate court papers and clears the probate notes, for a flat fee by estate value: $3,995 up to $1,000,000, $5,995 from $1,000,000 to $2,000,000, $7,995 over $2,000,000. You file them as the petitioner. On a $500,000 estate, the statutory attorney fee is $13,000.

The Attorney-First Difference

Many "online probate services" are document preparation companies. They are not law offices, so they cannot give legal advice, and they cannot prepare the answers that clear the court's notes when an examiner posts them.

We are different:

Attorney-Drafted & Reviewed

Every petition (DE-111), inventory, and any accounting you add is drafted or reviewed by a licensed California lawyer.

Built for the Stanley Mosk Probate Examiners

Our papers follow the requirements the Central District's probate examiners check, and we prepare the answers to their notes for you to sign and file.

Full Accountability

From the exact newspaper notice text to the papers for the probate referee, we prepare what each step needs, with plain instructions for what you do.

The 11 Phases of California Probate

We guide you through every step of the probate process

1

Initial Petition & Venue Selection

We check where the decedent lived and where property is held, so you file the case in the correct county.

2

Notice of Petition

We prepare the notice and the proof of mailing for everyone who must receive it. An adult who is not part of the case and inherits nothing, such as a friend or relative, mails it and signs the proof; your client home explains each step.

3

Mandatory Publication

You place the "Notice of Petition to Administer Estate" in the newspaper yourself. Your client home tells you which newspaper to use and gives you the exact notice text and what to ask for, including whether the newspaper files the proof of publication with the court.

4

Bond Papers

If the court requires a bond, we tell you the amount it is likely to require and prepare the court papers about it; you obtain the bond from a surety company.

5

Issuance of Letters

We prepare the papers you hand to the clerk to receive your "Letters Testamentary" or "Letters of Administration", which give you legal power to manage bank accounts and real estate.

6

Inventory & Appraisal

We prepare the inventory forms; the probate referee the court assigns values homes, business interests, and personal property.

7

Creditor Management

We prepare the notice to known creditors for you to have mailed, and your client home shows when the claim period ends.

8

Notice to State Agencies

We prepare the required notices to the Franchise Tax Board and the Director of Health Care Services for you to sign and mail.

9

Clearing Court Notes (Verified Supplements)

We check the court's posted notes, identify the examiners' concerns, and prepare the Verified Supplements for you to sign and file before your hearing.

10

Final Accounting (Add-on)

An optional add-on, not part of the probate package: Simple $995 for fewer than 50 transactions, Complex $1,995 for 50 or more. We prepare the accounting from the estate's records for you to sign and file.

11

Order of Final Distribution

We prepare the final petition and the proposed order for you to file; once the judge signs the order, you can transfer titles and distribute funds.

Stanley Mosk Probate Notes

The Stanley Mosk Courthouse is known for its rigorous Probate Examiners. For many self-represented executors, receiving a list of "Probate Notes" is the moment the process stalls.

Common notes include:

  • "Notice of Hearing not filed for all required parties."
  • "Proposed Order not submitted 5 days prior to hearing."
  • "Bond amount does not cover personal property plus one year's income."

Checking the court's notes is part of your flat fee

We check the court's posted notes, identify the examiners' concerns, and prepare the Verified Supplements needed to clear the notes, for you to sign and file. This often results in your petition being granted on the first hearing, avoiding the "three-month continuance" cycle.
